Three South Washington County Schools teachers are nominated for the 2020 Minnesota Teacher of the Year. The winner will be selected from a field of 134 candidates. Nominees include teachers from pre-kindergarten through grade 12, Early Childhood Family Education and Adult Basic Education at public and private schools across the state. The program has recognized excellence in teaching in Minnesota for 56 years.

The nominations for South Washington County Schools include:

  • Jaimie Forkrud, Special Education Teacher at Pine Hill Elementary School
  • Jason Jankowski, Special Education Teacher at Park High School
  • Lisa Peterson, 4th Grade Teacher at Liberty Ridge Elementary School
“Congratulations to Jamie, Jason and Lisa on this outstanding recognition,” said Keith Jacobus, superintendent. “These three teachers are doing high-quality work to personalize learning for each student and we are grateful to have them in our classrooms every day.”

The 2020 Minnesota Teacher of the Year will be announced on Sunday, May 3. A selection panel representing Minnesota leaders in education, business, nonprofits and government will narrow the field over the next two months, naming a group of semifinalists and finalists.
