Planning for Distance Learning

South Washington County Schools is preparing students and families for Distance Learning in the event of longer-term school cancellations after March 27.

Our goal is for each middle and high school student to have access to a device and internet during Distance Learning. Your family will receive a call from a teacher at your school to ask about your access to a device and the internet.

Middle school teachers will deliver instruction through an online learning management tool called Schoology. The district has used Schoology for the past three years and is an important learning tool to provide quality Distance Learning at your home.

If your child does not have a device to access Schoology while learning from home, please plan to check-out a district-issued Chromebook from your school during the following schedule. Your child may pick up the device without adult supervision.

  • Cottage Grove Middle School (9775 Indian Blvd., Cottage Grove, MN 55016):
    • Wednesday, March 18, 8-10 a.m.
    • Thursday, March 19, 3-5 p.m.
    • Friday, March 20, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
  • Lake Middle School (3133 Pioneer Dr., Woodbury, MN 55125):
    • Wednesday, March 18, 3-5 p.m.
    • Thursday, March 19, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
    • Friday, March 20, 8-10 a.m.
  • Woodbury Middle School (1425 School Dr., Woodbury, MN 55125):
    • Wednesday, March 18, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
    • Thursday, March 19, 8-10 a.m.
    • Friday, March 20, 3-5 p.m.

If none of these times work for you, please call your school’s main office. New arrangements will be made for your family to pick up the device during the week of March 23-27.

With access to a device comes great responsibility for students, parents and the school district. Students and parents/guardians are required to abide by all terms outlined in Middle School Distance Learning materials.

A number of providers are offering free internet and we encourage families to access these resources.
