Based on District 833 beliefs, we hope for deep learning of mathematics for all students as a result of mentoring and support. We find ways to connect with all students to ensure they “see themselves” in their teachers and math mentors and know they can be successful.

We believe: Students should develop a deep understanding of mathematics

Students should have positive feelings about mathematics
Mathematics should be relevant and students should be able to apply their learning to experiences
outside of the classroom
The classroom should be an engaging learning environment to support mathematics understanding

Elementary Curriculum - Bridges Mathematics

Bridges in Mathematics is a comprehensive elementary curriculum that is rigorous, coherent, engaging, and accessible to all learners. Bridges in Mathematics focuses on developing students’ deep understandings of mathematical concepts, proficiency with key skills, and ability to solve complex and novel problems. It taps into the intelligence and strengths of all students by presenting material that is as linguistically, visually, and kinesthetically rich as it is mathematically powerful.
