Elementary School Security Upgrades

Enhanced entryway complete at elementary schools

In November 2013, district residents passed a referendum for funding to enhance security at all district schools. As of the fall of 2017, all District 833 elementary schools have enhanced security to their entryways.

The new secure entryways require all visitors to enter the main office of the school and check in with a staff member before they are granted access to the school. 

In addition, all schools now have camera systems, interior classroom door locks, laminated safety glass in vestibules and classroom doors and card access to expedite police response.
