SCHOOL BOARD MEETING
Thursday, November 21, 2019 / 6:30pm

AGENDA
The purpose of this meeting is to consider the following:

1.0 Call to Order; Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a meeting of the School Board of Independent School District 833, South Washington County, was held on Thursday, November 21, 2019. The meeting was called to order by Chair Tracy Brunnette, at 6:30pm at the District Service Center, located at 7362 East Point Douglas Road South, Cottage Grove, Minnesota. School Board Members present were: Tracy Brunnette, Pat Driscoll, Heather Hirsch, Katie Schwartz, Sharon Van Leer and Michelle Witte. Ron Kath was absent. Student Board Representatives, Maya Mehra (WHS), Emily Thompson (PHS) and Hannah Poor (ERHS) were present. Superintendent Keith Jacobus was present.

2.0 Pledge of Allegiance

3.0 Approval of Agenda: It was moved by Sharon Van Leer, seconded by Katie Schwartz to approve the agenda. All in favor, none opposed, motion carried.

5.0 Public Comment: David Peters, from Woodbury about cub scouts program advertising.

6.0 Consent Items: It was moved by Pat Driscoll to approve the consent agenda, seconded by Sharon Van Leer. All in favor, none opposed, motion carried.

10.0 Action Items:

10.1 Approval of Policy 206
Mike Johnson, Assistant Superintendent
It was moved by Michelle Witte, seconded by Katie Schwartz to approve the policy changes. All in favor, none opposed, motion carried.

11.0 Reports and Comments:

11.1 Superintendent’s Report: Dr. Jacobus reported on Dan Pyan, Director of Finance & Operations and WBWF.

11.2 Student School Board Representatives Reports:
Emily Thompson (PHS) reported on their first applaud recognition ceremony of the year, the approaching end of trimester, band and orchestra concerts, winter sports, highlighting the girls basketball team has their home opener tonight. Student council is hosting a blood drive on December 13th.

Maya Mehra (WHS) reported on students prepping for finals and two events to celebrate end of trimester, specifically key club is hosting “Pie your Teacher in the Face” to raise money for the Thirst Project and there is end of tri bingo during 6th period. She also noted the Fall Musical Adams Family is this weekend.

Hannah Poor (ERHS) highlighted the thunderbolts, studying for finals, four girls advanced to the state swim level, six students qualified the debate nationals, movie night on December 6th. They are also hosting a Blood Drive on December 13th and it is open to the public. She also noted Senior photos and club photos have recently been completed.

12.0 Future Meeting Dates:

12.1 December 12, 2019 – School Board Meeting (DSC/6:30 p.m.)
12.2 January 9, 2020 – School Board Meeting (DSC/6:30 p.m.)

13.0 Closed Session: Pursuant to Minnesota Statute 13D.03 for Labor Negotiations. It was moved by Sharon Van Leer, seconded by Heather Hirsch to move to closed session at 8:01pm. All in favor, none opposed, motion carried. At 8:19pm, Sharon Van Leer motioned to return to closed session, seconded by Pat Driscoll. All in favor, none opposed, motion carried.

14.0 Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 8:20pm.
