The Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) announced on February 2 that East Ridge senior, Carter Slette, won the Triple A Award for Region 4AA. This award recognizes and honors high school seniors who excel in the classroom, on the athletic field, in the fine arts and maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA. If chosen as the State Class AA award recipient, Carter will receive a $1,000 college scholarship for four years.

Carter is a varsity letter winner on the football and basketball teams and received All-Conference Honorable Mention for football. He was a Spanish Immersion student through 8th grade. Additionally, he is a trombone player and has earned All-Conference and All-State recognition. Carter is involved in Project Lead the Way, has taken many AP courses and Spanish courses through College-in-School.

"Carter is a dedicated student, a talented athlete and a gifted musician," said East Ridge Activities Director Joel Olson. "He is a well-rounded student who works hard, and this award is well deserved."

Carter will be recognized at the Triple "A" Award On-Court Recognition Ceremony, held in conjunction with the Boys' State Basketball Tournament, in March.

Carter maintains a 4.07 GPA and plans to attend either Concordia College in Moorhead or the University of Minnesota where he will study biology and Spanish, while continuing to perform.
