Free summer activities and food for kids at local No Kid Hungry events

Dozens of free events are planned for the summer of 2018 to provide all families in South Washington County with free activities and food for kids as a part of the District’s No Kid Hungry Initiative.

District 833’s Community Education Skoolie Bus will be out in South Washington County communities every Monday-Thursday between June 18 and August 23 offering free activities and food for kids. The bus will make stops at various location in Cottage Grove, Newport, St. Paul Park and Woodbury on week nights. All are invited to attend and take part in the fun. See the full schedule below:

Mondays from 5-7 p.m. in Woodbury
Shawnee Park on June 18, July 9 and 23, August 6 and 20
Royal Oaks Elementary on June 25, July 16 and 30, August 13

Tuesdays from 4-6 p.m. in Newport
Newport Lutheran Church on June 19 and 26; July 10, 17, 24 and 31; August 7, 14 and 21 

Wednesdays from 5-7 p.m. in St. Paul Park
Pullman Elementary on June 20, July 11 and 25, August 8 and 22
St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church on June 27, July 18, August 1 and 15

Thursdays from 4-6 p.m. in Cottage Grove
Park Grove Library on June 21, July 12 and 26, August 9 and 23
Armstrong Elementary on June 28, July 19, August 2 and 16

The new summer programming and meals through the CESkoolie Bus are part of a “No Kid Hungry” pilot project, being implemented in partnership with South Washington County Schools, Second Harvest Heartland, Share Our Strength and a bipartisan hunger caucus of our state legislators. The goal of the project is to create a model for other school districts that will eliminate child hunger. Learn more about the No Kid Hungry Initiative.
