Mr. Marget serves as orchestra director at Park High School and teaches at Newport and Pullman elementary schools. Before coming to District 833, Mr. Marget taught 5th and 6th grade students in the Stillwater Area School District for four years, and conducted at Crosswinds Arts and Sciences School for 10 years. He started the Crosswinds orchestral program in 2003, when the Marget family relocated to Minnesota from the Boulder, Colorado area.

In Colorado, Mr. Marget played in the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra for 15 years, performing with international stars such as Yo-Yo Ma, Mstislav Rostropovich, Itzhak Perlman, Hilary Hahn, and many others. Mr. Marget performed as a founding member of the Crystal Springs String Quartet, as principal cellist for the Colorado Gilbert & Sullivan Festival, and throughout the region as a freelance cellist for a variety of ensembles. His most memorable shows include a night at Fiddler's Green in Denver with the rock band YES, and a performance at Lincoln Center in New York City as part of the bicentennial celebration of the passing of Mozart.

Mr. Marget also worked as Executive Director of the Boulder Youth Symphony, maintained a private cello studio of about 30 students of all ages, coached chamber music, and conducted an annual summer chamber music camp through the Boulder Arts Academy. He says his time in Colorado can best be summed up by the phrase, “Get me on the gig!”

Mr. Marget's wife, Kathryn, teaches in District 622 at Skyview Middle School, where she works with Gifted and Talented students and coordinates a model AVID program. They have two children, Louis and Mikaela, both of whom play cello. The kids are now out of the house, but the Marget have their hands full with their German Shepherd Dog, Dessa.

Mr. Marget holds a Masters of Music in string performance and pedagogy from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a Bachelors of Arts in journalism from Humboldt State University in Arcata, CA. He earned his educational licensure through Augsburg College in Minneapolis.
