South Washington County Schools is focused on preventing the coronavirus disease, known as COVID-19. Though we do not have any cases in our school communities, our health task force continues to plan for the possibility.

On March 12, the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) provided new guidance for schools on limiting crowds or large gatherings to help prevent the spread of the disease. We are evaluating this guidance and will provide an update on how this impacts school events, activities and athletics before students and staff return from spring break.

Both the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) are not recommending school closures.

As spring break comes to an end, we ask that all families follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) after-travel health precautions. If the district learns of a student or staff member who has recently traveled from one of the countries of concern, they will be asked by the district to stay home for 14 days and to contact the Minnesota Department of Health.

The circumstances surrounding COVID-19 are changing rapidly with new information and recommendations being released daily. Please visit for the latest updates and answers to frequently asked questions.
