CBOYZ Performing At Bailey Elementary SchoolCBOYZ, a music group from Woodbury, performed their song “No Time To Waste” for students at Bailey Elementary School’s Growth Mindset Assembly on Tuesday, Dec. 3. Brothers Bon, Denzel and Tyler Chinanga, who are all current students in District 833 schools, have been releasing music as the CBOYZ to share messages of positivity since 2014.

Tyler, a fourth-grade student at Woodbury Elementary School, said their song “No Time To Waste” is about “focusing on the positive.” Before their performance, the group also spoke to students and answered a few questions.

Ryan Johnson, a vocal teacher at Bailey Elementary who previously taught Bon and Denzel, was very excited to have the CBOYZ perform at the school. “It’s wonderful for them to give back to the younger students in the district,” Ryan said. “Showing them what they can become with a positive outlook.”

Over the past several years, CBOYZ has found success with their music with tens of thousands of views of their music videos on YouTube and opportunities to perform for crowds. In 2016, they embarked on a six-week tour in Africa. They have also performed at the Hollidazzle Parade in Minneapolis and Gillette’s Children’s Hospital.

When asked about how they balance school-life with singing and performing, Bon Chinanga, a sophomore at Woodbury High School said, “Over the summer we have a lot of free time to write songs and work on music … During the school year, we try to stay focused (on schoolwork).”

Denzel, a freshman at Woodbury High School, shared that they got their start in music by performing for their Mom, Marie Chinanga. They enjoyed performing so much that they eventually began writing their own songs and recording them.

“Think about your future and what you want to do later in life,” Bon said encouraging students at the end of the assembly.
