Armstrong Elementary School celebrated its 50th anniversary on Thursday, Nov. 21 with a schoolwide celebration. At the event, current students and teachers were joined by many retired staff members and alumni in the gymnasium to commemorate the last 50 years of education. Several of the retired staff in attendance were working at Armstrong the year it opened.

At the event, items from their 25-year-old time capsule were on display illustrating what Armstrong was like in 1994. During the presentation students from different classes announced what they will be contributing to the time capsule to be opened again in the future.

Tom Berg, former principal of Armstrong Elementary for 22 years, shared stories of the many changes he saw during his career from 1993 to 2005. Berg emphasized one thing that has always remained the same is the culture the school has for caring for one another.
