
District 833’s Thunderbolts adapted soccer team won the cognitively impaired state championship tournament on Saturday, Nov. 23 at Stillwater High School defeating the Southern Stars 3-1.
Earlier in the tournament, the Thunderbolts defeated Dakota United 7-0 in the quarterfinals and South Suburban 6-5 in the semifinals. The team finished this season undefeated 12-0.
Devon Lanz, Jack Swedahl and Tyler Tinucci from the Thunderbolts were named to the all-tournament team.
The Thunderbolts are a co-ed team of students who are in grades 7-12 at any of District 833’s schools. The athletes play a full schedule of games during an 8-10 week period, competing all over the Twin Cities Metro Area and the state.
