Three seats open in November School Board election

The District 833 School Board has three seats open for election on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019. All three members will be elected to the School Board for terms of four years each. Board members Heather Hirsch, Ron Kath and Michelle Witte currently fill these seats.

The period for filing affidavits of candidacy for the office of District 833 School Board member begins on July 30, 2019 and closes at 5 p.m. on August 13, 2019.  Affidavits of candidacy will be available at the District Service Center, located at 7362 E. Point Douglas Road S. in Cottage Grove. The filing fee for this office is $2 and must be paid by cash or check made out to South Washington County Schools by 5 p.m. on August 13, 2019.

Candidates must be eligible voters, 21 years of age or more on assuming office, have been a resident of the school district from which the candidate seeks election for 30 days before the general election, and must have no other affidavit on file for any other office at the same primary or general election. Candidates must also confirm that they have not been convicted of an offense for which registration is required under Minnesota Statutes, Section 243.166 (registration of predatory offenders).
