Woodbury High School student earns selective scholarship to attend Rising Sun Leadership Camp

Guddu Chinta, a Woodbury High School sophomore, has successfully completed the four-week Rising Sun international summer program in leadership. Chinta was one of 120 students worldwide who earned a full scholarship through the Louis August Jonas Foundation to attend the program in Rhinebeck, New York.

The program, which was established in 1930, is designed to help teenagers from across the U.S. and from 25 countries develop leadership skills and a spirit of giving, as well as creating life-long friendships. Over the course of the program, students have the opportunity to run the daily operations of the camp by developing schedules, assigning work duties and planning special events.

Staff members say Chinta was a stellar program participant, who they expect will take the lessons from the Rising Sun program and have an impact in school, college and beyond as a thinker, a leader and an agent of positive change.
