Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID)

AVID, or Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a school-wide system to develop successful leaders in their communities and society.  AVID scholars focus on developing organizational, note-taking, and self-advocacy skills.  AVID is a college preparatory program that accelerates learning for AVID Elective students with rigorous, relevant instruction while building meaningful teacher-student relationships.

Three SoWashCo schools have been certified as AVID National Demonstration Schools that embrace AVID best practices in both instruction and culture. Park High School, as well as, Oltman and Woodbury middle schools have all been named National Demonstration Schools. In addition, Woodbury Middle School and Oltman Middle Schools have been named Schoolwide Sites of Distinction for their commitment to the program school-wide.
